So we missed our first dive and were rushed through skills test (regulator recovery, alternate air, etc.) and new skills/new skills test (compass, etc.) on what should have been our second dive of the day.

On Day 2, the shop loaded our BCDs on the wrong boat, so we sat on a boat for 2 hours breathing gas fumes until we could link up with the boat that had our gear. We were supposed to complete 3 open water dives on Day 2. We completed 5 confined dives on Day 1 and also 1 open water dive on Day 1. After all, he's the pro, we're the novices and just because we paid money doesn't make us ready. Probably due to a minor freak out on her part (she surfaced during a skills test) and my inability to complete the compass skill properly, the instructor told us that he could not certify us (he was not comfortable with us being "tossed into the water" in the future). On a recent vacation, my fiance and I signed up for the Open Water Certification.
